    Your latest G.A.S. purchases

Kemper has landed. Got to play around with it for a while and so far sounds good. Nothing mindblowing but more than solid and sound. I'll try and some recording this weekend and see how it goes.

A bit of Black Friday shopping in the software side: Addictive Drums 2 Metal & Rock Tone 2 Electra 2 (VST synth)

Your favorite string brand and why.

I've been using Ernie Ball for something like 15 years already. No issues with them and they are quite durable. I can barely remember the last time I broke a string, even though I play in E standard on 7-stringers. Mostly the .058 - .011 set. No other reason really. Edit: Actually it was Ernie...

Time Tracking and Project Management, How do YOU do it?

I don't do audio projects much, but I would probably use JIRA for tracking time etc nowadays. Works very well in professional software development for a very similar thing :)

    Your latest G.A.S. purchases

Kemper unpowered box, some bits and pieces, and a Palmer Pedalbay 60 + power. Unfortunately the Kemper is not available until early December, so I gotta wait until then before it is shipped. Hopefully it arrives by christmas :D

Is there a such thing as the "best" IR Loader?

I have used LeCab quite a lot, and there is one thing about it: Quite often when I have 4 tracks of guitars, LeCab will randomly mute one or more tracks completely from both monitoring and rendering. You can "bypass" that by reloading the track FX via a preset, but it's a big annoyance, and you...

    FEAR FACTORY 2015!!!!!!!!!!!

Another, more traditional FF song: Sub drops have been around at least since the 1980's hip hop. But for FF - yeah, Shock was the first if you don't count the remix album Remanufacture, which I think had one song with a sub drop (forgot which though...).

Sharing "my" collection of DRUM SAMPLES here

I found this link through the Youtube video posted in this thread: http://www.erdo.se/downloads/ I'm currently downloading the pack, so it seems to work.

    SSD for an audio drive?

Just a quick comment about SSD lifetime. I've had my 80GB Intel X25-M G2 since May 2010, and it's still going strong.

    Your latest G.A.S. purchases

For some reason, I ended up checking out all kinds of Marshall 8100 clips last night, and what do you know. GAS alert  So now just 15 hours later, I have a 8100 sitting here with me  :D Sounds very good for a hybrid amp! Gotta play more with it now... The price was very good, too, at...

What is Andy up to these days?

I don't think Metallica would be broke anytime soon, even if they were to quit today :) I'm sure they still get a shitload of money from all the royalties, rights, and licenses. Not to mention merch.

So there will be a new At The Gates album

I mentioned in another forum, that it sounds more like The Haunted than At the Gates. Hopefully the rest of the material is more on ATG.

    FEAR FACTORY 2015!!!!!!!!!!!

Kikääs. And it's great that Mike Heller will also play drums on the album :) I think The Industrialist was a little too smooth in the drum compartment, compared to the exciting drums of Mechanize. (And I don't mind programmed drums). E: The live drums bit is mentioned in another interview...

    Runners here?

I've finished three half marathons and two 10k races :) So I guess you could say I run... My favourites are quite varied, but anything energetic works. Here's a couple of very standout tracks for me:

    Formal Qualifications

Maybe the Latin Language students will :) Personally, I have a degree, but from a completely different field (IT). But in a way, I think the IT degree has helped in some things regarding audio in general, mostly the theory behind effects etc. But as for mixing, not so much really. Maybe phase...

    Songs per album

Our first two albums were 34 mins and 37 mins, and I heard several comments that they were a bit too short for a full length album. My personal feeling is that even at less than 30 minutes, Reign In Blood is still an excellent album. But it is of course also important to listen to what the fans...

Vortech - The Occlusion (2014) released for free! (Industrial Metal)

So the new album The Occlusion is finally ready and released. It's much more in the style of FLA's Millennium, but brought to much more extreme ends! Lots of industrial stuff in this one, hehe... Most of the work is done by me, of course. Download here (81 MB)...

    End of the loudness war?

I wish, but every time I release an album that is not overloud, the fans complain it's too quiet :zombie:

how picky are you on performance?

As long as it sounds good overall (in relation to the other band), I accept it. Otherwise, I re-record until it is good. That said, I recorded the guitars to our newest album and EP, total 18 songs at 57 minutes, in less than 14 hours (in a non-stop streak ) -- yeah, I'm productive like...

Tried out EzMix2 in a couple different ways

Here is one more mix, this time using intelligence (hehe) to create as good mix as possible, within the means of EzMix2 (and personal taste): https://soundcloud.com/torniojaws/demon-good-mix Not too bad, this time. Interestingly the guitars are the difficult part to mix properly! The kick and...
