Doesnt really matter what Lars says now, the fact remains that Metallica were one of the founders of Thrash and they were brilliant in the 80's, their prime time. Good band, saw them live and they were devastating. The guitar playing is fantastic imo. Better than vast majority of grindcore bands, cos at least they vary their music a lot. Grindcore is great so long as albums are 30 minutes or less. Nasum still rated as the best for me in this genre.

Definitely Power Metal, and they are extremely over rated in my humble opinion. They only stand out cos of harsh vocals.
