First time I record guitars with sm57+md421

Thanks for your comments! I mean I remove all the low end in the sm57 track, and all the high end in the md421 track. I did that because I didn't like the high-mid bump that md421 has, so I use the low and low mid information for the md421 and add the high mid and high freq. with the sm57...

First time I record guitars with sm57+md421

Hi! I recently bought a MD421 and tried blending it with the sm57. I tried something different to the usual blend of the two signals, I used the MD421 for the bass and midrange, and sm57 for highs. For the sm57, I put a HPF at 1,4 Khz and for md421 a LPF at the same 1,4 Khz. So I use the...

New song/video in my studio (Ltd Grynch, 5150, API A2D...)

thank you, Much appreciated! There are three different voices in the chorus that complement each other and sounds like a "vocal chord", this is the trick that always works for me with vocals.

Warwick Corvette $$ vs. Corvette Std. Active

Thanks guys for your advice! I'm looking for a bass that has a lot of that metallic "clank" sound, thinking of playing with a pick and some distortion (bass sound in Versus from The Haunted is what comes to mind). I'll look some Spector also. Thanks!

Share your 5150 preamp tubes preferences

In my experience, I tried a few different tubes on my 5150 (EH, Tung Sol, Shuguand 9th Gen, JJ), and the only ones thar really makes any difference form my ears and my favourites are the Electro Harmonix 12ax7, the sound brighter and bring a more agressive tone from my 5150. Any other tubes I...

SansAmp metal bass tone (clip inside)

It's the sansamp bass driver DI, yeah it sounds probably too boomy, I added too much bass with the RBass. With the 8x10 impulse sound way better in my opinion, although the sansamp has it's own cab simulation. Thanks man!

For the Drop B tuners, your wisdom please

If your PRS is 25' scale, I would put something like 0.13-0.59. I've a 0.11-0.56 set in my PRS Singlecut (25') in drop B and the 0.56 feels a bit loose. On the other hand, the intonation is very good even with the 25' scale.

Bridge pickup for a PRS Singlecut?? (sounds muddy with a PRS Tremonti pickup)

Hi, I've a 2001 PRS Singlecut with a PRS Tremonti pickup in bridge position. I'm generally happy with the sound but it sounds a little muddy (with drop B tunning). I'm considering changing the pickups with ones that has a tighter sound. I'm thinking of something like EMG 81 or 85, or maybe some...
