Yeah, I've heard many producers say that if you can mix a full on death/black metal band, then you can mix any "guitar" music.

its also probably good to experiment mixing with other types of music such as you did. ive been screwing around with horns and stuff that are apple loops in logic and its pretty fun. its good to kind of push your dimensions and it keeps your ears honest IMO.
