Metal Combo

Can anyone recommend a good combo for modern metal? It should be able to stand it's own in a rehearsal/live setup, without extension cab...

I have good experience with the 6506 212 combo (albeit used with a G12T75 412 cabinet), but are there any alternatives? The 112 6505 combo doesn't look to bad, but I have little experience with other amps...

I have a 112 6505+ combo, is a great sounding amp, BUT I put v30 in it and it sounds ok... not nearly as good as it does running into my mesa recto 2/12 cab. I have no experience with it but I think the roadster combo should sound pretty awesome!

Maybe another question; does anyone have an idea what the expected lifetime of an original 212 5150 combo is? I know they are built like tanks, but I wonder whether the caps, resistors etc. are durable, or whether I should count on replacing them ...
