Wanted to ask real users which Mic pre would be a better choice for Metal Guitars and drums, etc., the Vintech 1272 or the Great River 1nv?
Pros and cons of each?
Thanks in advance.

both great so it'll come down to persanal preference..
of those two I'd say 1272 but I don't know the GR that well ..

anyway, I'd recommend the API 3124+ over both of them for drums and guitars

the great river is fucking awesome.
sorry lasse but i'd use that over the 3124 any day for guitars.
the 3124 rules on drums though... no questiion of that

Greyskull, thanks for the reply, I appreciate it very much. I have heard great things about the Great River products but just wanted to hear from real users before dropping that kind of funds.

Anybody else?

Check out Brent Averill stuff too, they're supposed to be amazing (according to a bunch of the Gearslutz crackaz their 1272 shits all over the Vintech)

i haven't used any incarnation of the 1272, or the GR stuff, but i can tell you that the 3124+ and BA 1073 are both fucking sweet preamps, and i'd be more than happy using either on drums and/or guitars...one might work better than the other for certain stuff, but neither one is going to suck - ever.
