Hey, I have a mix and master of a track here that I recorded, only started recording stuff recently so learning new stuff with everything I record. I'm finding that my mixes sound like they're not fat enough and I'm wondering what improvements I can make. This is my first recording using an actual bass guitar so maybe I need to work on that. Either way, here is the mix, and a quick loudness master on it.

your bass has grit to it, but not enough bass to it. add a nice hump to the 75Hz area, i'd say at least 3db. that should give you a little more fatness. also, put some low end in that snare, around 200hz, then post the mix you come up with.

That's interesting as I had the bass high passed from 80hz down, so that would explain the loss of bass. Would people normally bother high-passing bass at all? My grit track is just very middy, high and low passed. Here is a picture of the eq I have on the clean track now

I'll do those changes and upload a copy later.
