Just out of curiosity, i put a pair of EMG JH in my PRS Custom 24 and took time, to do a little comparison between these active high-output humbuckers and the stock PRS 59/09 Treble.
They are really different, while the active EMG provides lots of output and chunk, the passive PRS PU is a relatively moderate output PU. So it has a lots of attack and dynamics.
I like both tones, for me it´s a matter of taste.
Amp was my KAOS Sludge 15 into a Mesa 2x12 Rectifier horizontal, miked with a single SM57 into a Fireface UFX - no post processing on the guitar tracks.
Settings, mic position etc. was all the same.
Every part of the song is twice, once in the mix and once guitars only.
