I guess you know ELP (I don't like them very much, but they seem to fit your description).
I'd recommend "Mediterranean Tales" by the German band Triumvirat. It has long songs, but they are quite energetic and upbeat. Sort of ELP-ish, though I like them more.
Gentle Giant has many upbeat, short songs delivered with excellent musicianship. Recommended albums include pretty much every one of them from "Acquiring the Taste" to "The Power and the Glory".
These came to mind first.
