Hey, everyone!
OK, as you probably know, the next LORD album is entitled "Ascendence".
Normally most bands either talk about their new album after it's released or maybe give updates as they're in the studio recording, etc. but what we'd like to do is involve you in the process from almost the start of the writing.
Both TY and Andy have a shitload of riffs and ideas on disc that they're sending me to sort through and see what we can piece together, as well as a lot of my own ideas that I've been collecting along the way, either on hard disc or in my brain (it's not unusual for me to have 4 or 5 entire songs in my head for months before I get a chance to get them down - that was the case with The Final Chapter for some songs).
What do we have so far?
4 pretty solid songs: 2 absolutely complete structures musically and 2 that are about half way sorted out.
I can give away a title of one of them: "Reborn." Heavy as all fuck, but really melodic. Think old Blind Guardian, Iced Earth and 80s trad metal all mixed into one.
Just finished another whole song demo tonight, this one was really kind of proggy but with a massive AOR chorus and cool syncopated drums. Me and TY had jammed on a lot of the feels for this in the rehearsal rooms over the last couple of months, so it's great to hear the ideas actually in a song rather than jamming riffs.
Apart from this, there's another 3 songs that I intend to try to get down in the next week or so. I'm sure once TY's and Andy's ideas turn up, there'll be more than an abundance of great material to work on and demo, and then give back to the guys to get their input.
There won't be a lot of updates about this stuff initially, so this thread might get a bit quiet every now and then, but we'll try to keep you all in the loop as to how it's all going.
Oh and psst.... the cover art is done and it looks fucking AWESOME!
