protein bars tend to have alot of fat and useless sugars and are not a good option for a post workout meal. Post workout you need 30-50 grams of whey protein with about 300 - 400 calories. The whey protein is very fast acting as insures proper recovery of the destroyed muscle cells/fibres. There are several different kinds of powers, I have one for strictly post workout, then one for nighttime (PWO - 40 g, nighttime - 20 G, rest of the day = 120 - 140 G).
Having all this protein is actually cost effective, while you see people going to wendies at 11:00 and spending 5 bucks there, I have 4 months worth of nighttime food (one scoop of powder + drink) for a grand total of 30 bucks.
