Rifles and shotguns are legit because they can be used for hunting. I oppose hunting, but not very strongly - I think that unnecessary killing of animals is wrong (sport hunting), and a lot of people die in hunting accidents. But hunting isn't a big deal for me. Anyhow...owning a shotgun or rifle for hunting is fine. But real men use crossbows.
