What is the fascination with Children of Bodom anyway?

As far as I can figure out, they're just a pretty average metal band with some keyboards and a frontman that thinks he's a woman. I actually have no idea how they actually acquired such a massive and blindly dedicated fanbase - I've got two albums but I cant remember any of their songs.

Good melodies, excellent soloing.

As for "blindly dedicated fanbase"... I'm sorry they don't sound angry enough for you, and only one members wears makeup. I should open my eyes more often to enjoy auditory entertainment, instead of blindly liking bands because I enjoy the way they sound.

I liked COB but they went musically downhill and I got tired of Alexi's posturing. There's also only so far you can go in singing about some shit that supposedly happened at a lake, or "I don't give a fuck if you hate me!" which is a stupid thing to say. So if I didn't hate you, you would give a fuck? Surely if you didn't give a fuck you'd care not either way what my opinion was of you!

Mate, I did not pass my outlook on such things as gospel, my opinion is just that - my opinion, it's not definitive, its just something that I, personally, believe to be true, I'm not forcing it down your throat, I asked a question and gave my view of the matter, if you consider this an attack on one of your favourite bands then you're wasting your time because you're not going to make me change my mind by attempting to call me out as some music basher or elitist who only enjoys 'tr00 death metal' or some other crap.

Where did I mention anger? You make up the argument against me going by what others have said before me, I don't give two shits about whether COB are melodic or not, I like loads of metal bands that others might consider untr00 or too melodic, in fact I like music that most metalheads would hate full stop because it is not brutal enough, or for silly things like that.

And yes, there is something very camp about COB in a very un-ironic way, it's not hair metal - it doesn't have the sense of humour.
