New Meshuggah track available
http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...ogID=346309651
They're playing it there on the radio. It's a very nice song so far, sounds very much Chaosphere-like - just like I like it ![]() Btw the mp3 stream doesn't work, but the Windows Media does, at least for me. Edit: Bah, the WM thing only plays a loop of an advertisement. You can download a poor quality rip of the song here: http://rs237.rapidshare.com/files/83...ogspot.com.rar Last edited by Torniojaws : January 12th, 2008 at 05:58 AM. |

that .rar file doesn't work. I changed the name of the file to see if it would work, but it still doesn't recognize it. What's the deal?

It's Rapidshare dude. Click the link and follow the instructions on the page to download. Just click Free and wait until the counter counts down, type in the number it gives you and hit Download.

I hope they have some D.E.I style shit on this release, with those ill thrash parts.

I think this new album, could be the best they've ever made.

to me, it sounds like the Nothing album, but with the speed of Chaosphere

i think it sounds straightforward as well, but not in a bad way. I think the whole "prog/tech metal" thing has been pushed to the brink, and is getting to be stale (the opposite of what true progression should be). Meshuggah is just doing what they do best. Actually this track kind of makes me think of decapitated.

If you sped it up 200%, cranked the high end by about 20dB & involved more than two notes in the riffs then yeah I reckon there could be similarities
![]() Not sure what to make of the track so far. Sounds like it'll be a solid album to pass some time with, but I'll allow myself to hear the entire thing before I draw parallels to DEI & Chaosphere. Doesn't help that I can still hear that terrible POD rhythm guitar sound even through the bad rip quality (unless I'm mistaken.. but in either case, not a fan of that sound). |

Try to play the opening rhythm and realise it isn't straight forward at all. However what they have achieved is writing extremely complicated music which is easy to listen to, which Catch 33 definitely wasn't.

I'm still up in the air. I does have that Chaosphere vibe, only with a better sound to it. Which, don't get me wrong, I enjoy Chaospere, its just that I still long for the days of Destroy, Erase, Improve. But, it does sound like its going on the right track to Meshuggah's statement of taking things going back a couple years and getting even more aggressive than usual. I'm just hoping the rest of the album offers more variety, which I'm sure it will. Maybe their secretly going for a mix of some tracks being like Chaosphere, and some with a Destroy, Erase, Improve vibe. Can't wait. And the prog/tech thing can never be pushed to the brink. Their can be bands around who do it by the numbers, but with any style of music, theirs constantly bands changing it around and making it new and fresh. Hell, people where saying Jazz was dead when it was alive and well.
