Im guessing they will do a addon pack which is more metal orientated anyway, like the DFHS one with more MIDI beats etc. ![]()

Yeah I have it already and it sounds fucking great. Way too busy right now to get any clips up. The room mic options are excellent though!

What's the space requirement for S 2.0? Like 20 GB?

From 4 GB to 25 GB, depending on what install options you use, according to Toontrack: http://toontrack.com/s20.asp

Hehehehe... Glad you Guys finally have it in your hands.
Pretty BAD ASS hey? Yeah ![]() Now you can have TWO snares || two HiHats in your kit! The options are almost limitless with the X-Pads! If you have any of the EZX expansion kits... your options get crazy unreal! And the Sonalksis plug-ins ROCK! Along with the bussing options, close/room/far/bleed mics, Sonalksis plugins, and X-Pads .... if you can't get a 'quote' METAL sounding drumkit 'unquote' you may want to try spending yer' time doing something other than music! ![]() |

Ordering my upgrade now. I will post tests once I get it. Very impressed with both Acle's clip and the other one, although none of this "djenty" stuff really shows off the toms...

Can't say I'm blown away by the cymbals either. They sound too localized and raw, like there isn't enough stereo crossover or something. The drums themselves seem to sound quite good though.

For you guys who don't dig the cymbals - I respect your opinion.
But there are so many things that you can customize with S2 - including the cymbals - with little or no effort at all. Each channel has it's own mini mixer (so to speak), where you can control the bleed levels, not to mention the Bus options, too. All self-contained, with no help from your DAW. IMHO - the Sonalksis effects that come with S2 are excellent tools .... FWIW.

Are the cymbals close-miced or do you get them in an overhead configuration.... or is it all tweakable?
I think my issue with the cymbals is just that they have too much of a close-mic sound and not enough actual ambience and crossover. |

Sounds pretty poor to me (relatively speaking). I'm hardly the best mix engineer, but unless these were mixed badly then they don't hold a candle to some of the previous DFHS clips I have heard. Listen to these back to back with some of Bulbs stuff (even on crappy myspace) and Bulbs DFHS stuff tears this apart- the kick especially. I'd love a direct comparison of the same track, one with DFHS, one with S2.0 and see what comes up. The only thing that currently has me gassing for S2.0 over DFHS is the Sonalkis plugs. Is it really worth it though, just for them? I'm certainly going to wait for more clips before shelling out for S2.0. Last edited by gorath23 : July 9th, 2008 at 04:59 AM. |

Does the upgrade, run off DFHS 1 somehow? Do I get less with the upgrade, rather than buying full price version? The reason is, my original copy of DFHS is gone, and I don't have the original installed anymore. Since I am a registered user, I can get the upgrade cheaper.

That said, and I should've prefaced this, both guys said they only used a tiny bit of comp on the room mics and then a tiny eq on the kick/snare - minimal amount of processing, and by no means a final product. http://www.myspace.com/4dsounds - that's Acle's production page, and everything on it was DFHS cymbals/toms with a kick and snare from BFD The snare in the Elements clip, though.... fuck! That thing KILLS, and with only minimal processing! |

If your copy of DFHS 1 is registered and authorised on the toontrack site it should then give you the auth code for S2.0. |
