Some questions for people in Germany!

Ich gehe aus Deutschland fur der monat aus Oktober.
Ok, meine Deutsch is nicht sehr gut!
But anyway, in general, how is the weather in Germany in October... I know it differs from region to region, but generally? For clothes-packing purposes!

Also, do you think that Oktoberfest is worth taking part in? I don't really care for standard tourist sheiss, preferring to meet real people

and I am trying to get away from other Americans, not see more of them! But perhaps it's worth it if one can drink Radeberger and Aventinus?

If anyone knows a website or listing that might show some metal gigs in October, I'd also be greatful.

Finally- when I studied a bit of German, the instructor said that nicht is pronounced 'nikt'. I've heard some people say 'nisht'-- does it differ with the regional accent?
