Early Front Runner For Song Of The Year

You're Gonna Go Far, Kid from The Offspring's new cd, Rise And Fall Rage And Grace. Such a catchy and cool song; makes you want to hit repeat over and over again. A close second right now would be Avantasia's The Toymaster featuring Alice Cooper.

Just my opinion of course; please feel free to post your favs so far for this year.

OFFSPRING, are you freaking kidding me? LOL why don't you tell people about "Avian's new song that you think is the "GREATEST METAL SONG EVER WRITTEN" lol, ok don't do that, maybe we'll have a poll and a contest or something for people to guess which song on our new album, Yan thinks is the Greatest metal song ever written.

OFFSPRING? cough, ak, going to choke now......

Those guys are GREAT song writers and I love all of their albums.

Yan, you have clearly lost your mind.

While OFFSPRING deserves a lot of credit that they've managed to stay hip with the younger crowd for over 10 years (no easy feat!), calling OFFSPRING writers of the song of the year is like nominating a pizza for best food of the year (no offense Brent, I know you think "Pizza" is one of the four food groups but alas ... it's not ).

OFFSPRING is a clever band with catchy tunes, riffs and lyrics but they hardly write songs that are milestones. I can think of exactly one OFFSPRING song that has any sort of relevance to the human race and would stand the test of time - The Kid's Aren't Alright.

If we are (were?) sticking strictly to metal, I would submit damn near anything off of Symphony X's latest album for song of the year. It's too bad that Turisas' The Varangian Way didn't come out this year because ANY song off of that album obliterates Offspring.

Brent's choice, however shockingly biased it may be, actually holds merit since it's hands-down the best comeback song by a band in recent memory. I would have nominated Gamma Ray's INTO THE STORM but the whole rest of the album is so disappointing that I can bear to now. So my choice, for the moment, is Helloween's Bells of the 7 Hells.

I love how you bash me for my love of pizza while you firmly held in hand a piece of pizza that I just brought you from my box upstairs... ahahaha.

And as for your song on the year choice for Helloween, that came out last year, as well as Paradise Lost by Symphony X...

Nathan,

Just because you got the Symphony X and Helloween this year doesn't mean they came out this year!

Judas Priest comeback? Did you ever hear of Angel of Retribution?
