What sim / impulse combination you guys prefer for stoner / doom type guitarsound, Sleep, High on Fire, YOB, Black Sabbath for example? I've been using HyBrit with ReCabinet 2.1 1960 impulses, but I'm not perfectly happy.
Some examples of what I'm looking for :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCKjk...ailpage#t=141s
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7M0d...tailpage#t=83s

Shitty youtube quality on some but you get the idea

If you want to be perfectly happy, buy a real amp.

I have one, but can't play it in my apartment. I need to use amp sims for demoing and songwriting purposes.

My advice is buy a preamp e.g. Blackstar HT-Dual. Better than ampsims. They're quite cheap.

Thanks for all this! Are there one or two guitar amps that you'd suggest most?

Welcome.

You will get about 1000 suggestions if you ask without telling what genre and sound you are after.

It's best to start a new thread and ask there, even better to post a link to some example videos on youtube that show the kind of sound you want.

No need to pollute this ampsim list thread with a normal discussion on the subject.

Maybe try running guitar pre with bass cabinet or dst plug w/bass amp. Worked well for Kyuss (hardware wise)....

For amp sims you might want to try these,

Aradaz Amp 2 Green
http://aradaz.blogspot.com/2008/06/a...n-release.html

and BTE's Juicy 77
http://www.bteaudio.com/software/Juicy77/Juicy77.html

I found these two amp sims respond very nicely to KaltHallen Studio's T75 cab sims,
http://www.guitarampmodeling.com/vie...p?f=32&t=15844

and with Let it burn's Orange 4x12 v30 impulses
http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/e...-impulses.html

I've been able to achieve some very nice vintage sounding tones using various combinations of these amps and cabs

Also, try KeFIR as your impulse loader. For some reason I get much better results using it than I do with LeCab.

RTAS no idea, but for iOS I would say that Bias is the best sounding ampsim.

Umh.. I need something to use with ProTools.. Do you process the guitars trough Bias and then import em into ProTools?

Ah, sorry man, I thought you were asking about iOS and RTAS separately so I gave an iOS option hoping someone else would chime in on the RTAS.

If ultimately you want to run in Pro Tools I would suggest going for something native and not separately running through your iPad or something.

Since X50 doesn't do RTAS as far as I know, I would recommend IK Amplitube, and specifically the ENGL Powerball or the SLO 100 model. Those are really good. In terms of cabs in Amplitube, the Closed Modern 2 and Metal T1 cabs are pretty cool. Or you could go with external IRs but that's a whole 'nother can of worms.

ok, this is a DAMN GOOD news!
I have been using amplitube metal on my win DAW. It was an old version, the first release i think, and it was nothing good. I mean, It was like 7 or 8 years ago, so maybe I'd need to give to amplitube an second chance.
Are you talking about amplitube metal or just amplitube 3?
