The company that up until now had the dealership for ESP in sweden are now selling out their stock for ridiculously low prices. So I bought two guitars from them, first a LTD Ec401 Olympic white, which was kinda cool looking, but then I saw this fucking monster:

So bizarre that I had to get one

I don't know what I'll use it for though. Anyone played one of these?

Nice purchase on the EC-401! Ive never played that but the 7's have a terrible rep.....just have to wait and see when you get it I guess

Is there still chance to drop that one?

Its a risky one....as I said alot of people slate the SC models, due to sound and playability. Shame they don't have any offers on the Schecter 8's? If you really wanted a 8 those would be a better option. Otherwise, get another 6!

I haven't payed the order yet so I can still withdraw that one.
I have so many 6-string guitars so I though It was a perfect oppurtunity to get a freak guitar. I would probably NEVER play with this one live but maybe fun to play around with at home... Maybe I should just get a 7-string and actually be able to play it without being ashamed of it.

Tried that Explorer out with a buddy at Thomann a few months ago. He was GASing hard for it, but was seriously underwhelmed in the end.

Do you know if it was neck heavy? I love my EX-351 but the neck heavyness of it does my head *or back* in!

Damn dude, it's looks like you have some serious GAS. It's usually a good idea for your wallet to outline exactly what guitar you want BEFORE making the order

My buddy dicked around with it far longer than I did (over an hour) and I think he did complain about that too. Would have to ask him again to be 100% sure though...

really? since when? doesn't whitechapel use the 7 string SCs?

I'm not an LTD type guy at all, but I haven't heard anything particularly bad about them.

I have a 607b, it's probably the best overall guitar I own. Sounds awesome and plays very very well.

Never heard Whitechapel. But yeah, Kazrog sold his also. He will be able to shed more light on that subject.

I sold my SC-607 a while back. It didn't sound very good, I'm guessing because of the maple body. It was just a goofy guitar all around, bad control layout, stupid signature at the 12th fret, plus the fucking abysmal 81-7 pickups (which I swapped out with 707s.) I bought it because I got a good deal on it, and it was a nicely made instrument that also played well.

However, it's also the reason why all the 7 string songs on Backmask's Dark Fiber sound inferior to the 6 string songs (which were recorded with my LTD F-2005 with EMG 85 pickups.) Still a decent tone, but nowhere near as good as it should have been, and that was with a 5150 + Keeley Modded Tube Screamer + Mesa OS Cab + Audix i5 + Original Neve 1081 signal chain. In other words, that's as good as that guitar is ever going to sound for metal.

Plus, my understanding is that LTD has moved their manufacturing from Korea to Indonesia - at least any recent LTD I've jammed out on is made in Indonesia - and they are far inferior to the Korean made LTDs of 2005 or so in every way. It's the death of the LTD line for me.

In any event, Stephen Carpenter has unique/odd tastes that don't map well with what any of us here are looking for tone-wise. I would recommend a Schecter Hellraiser C7 if you're looking for the best 7 string for the money.
