Heavy metal akin to Queensryche's s/t EP
Pretty straight forward, don't want something like Operation Mindcrime - just straight forward asskickin' Maiden-esque heavy metal.

The vast majority of melodic u.s. power metal is "based" (in one way or another) on that ep. so the list of bands is almost endless.

Well massive namedropping sucks doesn't it? So let's just mention the debuts from Crimson Glory, Liege Lord, Oliver Magnum, Mystic Force ("Take Command") and Heir Apparent for a start. I'd also say "Wicked Generation" by Sacred Warrior, for being a shameless yet brilliant Queensryche ripoff, but this one is influenced more by "The Warning" rather than the QR ep.
