Die Apokalyptischen Reiter have an extremely unique and varied sound.

Sore Plexus
You might call it Coroner meets Psychotic Waltz. Killer songs with enough heaviness to still be metal. Not death/black, but still metal.

Not metal, but definitely check out Magma and the entire zeuhl movement that they spawned. A form of avant-rock with chants and frenzied operatic vocals spewing out nonsense lyrics(gibberish).
Epic, subversive, rhythmically intense and trance-inducing music.
It actually sounds a lot better than my description of it.
