Dudes are sick as hell, they play here in Sacramento all the time with bands we are good friends with. My band was going to be playing at a Festival with them, but they dropped off to do another Festival. We are still playing with the guitar player from Conducting From the Grave side band so all is good. I digress though, Fallujah does kick much ass.

These guys are awesome. My band has played with them a couple times. Their drummer is fighting cancer right now, which is unfortunate, but he's going to pull through it. They asked me to record their previous album, but that fell through when they decided to go to Panda studios instead.

i lost my taste for techdeath stuff a while ago.. but this is actually really well written unique stuff. i played with these guys at one point but didnt really bother to watch them. wish i had now lol.

Yeah, I REALLY like this album. All of the songs have such great atmosphere and there's plenty of awesome, tasteful, soulful shred throughout.

I'm loving all the newer Cynic-influenced albums I'm hearing lately.... Fallujah's The Harvest Wombs, Last Chance To Reason's Level 2, White Arms of Athena's Astrodama, The Contortionist's new one that's about to come out, Intrinsic....... gooooood stuff.

I love these guys. I Know Sam Pura who recorded the album at Panda Studios. It was then taken to someone else to mix and master. I think it sounds great, but waaaaay to sample replaced and too much high end over all on everything... Great songs though and awesome band.

I had no idea Panda Sam did this; it's totally not in his normal realm, musically speaking. I love that guy even more now.

finally had a chance to catch these guys live. Super fucking tight and great TONE! they had Chason from Burning the masses behind the kit to fill in for the current drummer who has cancer :/ They were all super nice dudes! Go watch these guys live if you get a chance!

Check out some drum cams of their fill in drummer. Its pretty insane how spot on that dude is....

Cheers, thank you, and I agree. It was a little disappointing to hear all of Andrew's hard work and good tones completely replaced with samples opposed to having the samples blended.

The band was happy. That's all that matters.

Hey sorry for the delay and thanks for the compliments & general interest.

I really follow my ears when it comes to choosing mics. I'm really just trying to "document" what my ears are hearing in the room and start fixing the flaws. I have a fairly basic setup for drums that I start with. K, Snr, Snr Btm, Toms, OH, Rooms, Mono Room. I start experimenting and adding in more mics from there if I'm not happy. I don't like mics that have a bunch of EQ (D6 for example). I don't know what else to really say about my approach to drum recording other than I'm not afraid to use dynamics in line to get the sounds my ears want to hear.

Guitars are always hard. That's why I love them. I don't think I'll ever be impressed with my guitar tones. I really strive for "clarity". I want each note to be heard and not masked by harsh hi frequency content which is the constant challenge with guitars. But I'm also all about "vibe" and making sure the tone feels right in the guitarists hands when they play in the control room. You really just gotta choose the right amp, and start shooting out between mics. My opinions change daily. Sometimes I love my ribbons and set them up and am surprised to like the 57 more. It's all about perspective and what type of sounds you are going for. I shoot out all my mics and try to use different gear each record to encourage myself to learn more and push my comfort zone and versatility.

I'm starting a "metal / hardcore" record next week. I figured I better post on here and get some engineering inspiration rolling in before I start. Happy to discuss / answer any questions. Again thanks for the general interest and kind words!
