What Carcass album next?

If i love the album Heartwork by Carcass what album of theres do you recomend i get next?

Swansong is there lightest effort with more layed back riffs... "Necro... ect" is probably there best of the earlyer work... i like that one... it depends what type of music you like

they have a bad time release it so i have bad time listen to it.

please someone tell me what the fuckin' is melodic death ...

because if it is in flames i don't see connection with carcass!

I wouldn't call Carcass 'Melodic Death Metal'.... They are more like Technical Death Metal...

I recommend starting from Reek of Putrifaction, but I agree on Necroticism,it was the first Carcass album I got and Im still blown away.

Granted that it came out before heartwork you'd think it would be the best bet for being similar. But you've all over looked one album...and I'm shocked!!!!

Don't listen to those fools, go out and buy Wake up...and smell the Carcass. There's a about 7 songs on their that aren't on any other album. "Is this your life" is one of greatest carcass songs ever and can only be found on this album or one of their singles. Besides their is some older stuff on their as well. It's basically B-sides and rarities, but they are better than Necrotism and share a liitle bit more of the Heartwork vibe....seeing as half of them didn't make it onto that album.

This is your life can actually be found on most Heartwork albums as a bonus. I'd get the Wake up and smell the....Carcass DVD. It shows you Carcass from all of their stages and then you'll be able to decide which album to pick up. I'm sure hearing Corporal Jigsore Quandary will convince you to get Necroticism.

it is definitely a good point ,, its a really good compilation for those uninitiated fully into the carcass world, or even just into death metal as a whole, and the favourite stages will help you decide where to go from there.. good plan

Hmm..i think Carcass became more melodic album after album..
First two albums are raw grind gore and Necroticism turned up to deathmetal and Heartwork even more melodic...

necroticism is not death metal!

is an evolution of grindcore.

in the same way of "symphonies of sickness" but more mature.

heartwork is a bit different and yes more death metal.

but they never play death metal

also swansong is not deathmetal

i think should be shitmetal!

Heartwork was their first album where they matured past their "grindcore" roots and became a better band, in my opinion. I guess it depends on what you like, but swansong was their last album that isn't a compilation, and it is "softer" than their earlier stuff. It has more of a progressive metal feel to it, with more creative song writing & talented melodic dual guitar work.

I think that if you like heartwork and your into melodic death metal, I wouldn't go back to their earlier albums, because they're not what I'd call melodic death metal. The songs are all titled with weird medical terms that some doctors would have a hard time understanding. So the songs are basically just "Death Metal", not as brutal as cannibal corpse, but I would compare them to that more then melodic death metal. If you don't like grindcore, then don't listen to the posts that tell you to get anything earlier then heartwork

Swansong still has Walker's harsh vocals, and its nowhere near "easy on the ears" or "mainstream".

But i think grind gore metal has almost nothing guitar solos, like in deathmetal..
