Post Chat - Forum Rules

Chat is for non-music discussions. Just about anything is fair game, as long as these few simple rules are followed. More will be added if something comes along in the future that needs to be regulated.

General Conduct
  • No "trolling".
  • No fighting/flaming. Joking with friends is fine, but if you don't like someone, no one cares. Take it elsewhere.
  • No porn, gore, etc pictures (meatspin, goatse, or other "disgusting" garbage).
  • No staging attacks on other forums/sites from Chat. Ultimate Metal or otherwise.
  • No racist posts/discussions/threads. It drives people crazy and ends up in a fight.
  • Please don't continuously quote huge groups of pictures or other posts. Quote which picture(s) and/or which section to which you're replying.
  • Please don't double or triple post (or more). They will be merged. Edit your original post, or use Multi-Quote (explained below).
  • For the most part, try to stay on topic.

Topics:
  • First, make sure your threads belong in Chat. Browse the forum list to find the right board. I'll mention a few forums below.
  • No discussions/threads about politics. They end up in a fight every time.
  • No discussions/threads about drugs.
  • Use your common sense to determine if a thread is appropriate.
  • Any threads deemed to be completely pointless or useless will be removed.
  • NO LIST THREADS.

The "Report Post" Function:
Found at the bottom of every post. Used to report a post you believe to be inappropriate. This is a moderated forum, so you probably won't need to use it. However, understand that this is not a toy to report people just because you don't like them. E-mails are automatically sent to moderators and administrators whenever someone uses this function, so it is not in your best interest to use it for stupid reasons. If you have an issue with a post, thread, or another member, a Private Message will do just fine in most cases.

The Multi-Quote Function:

A handy feature to quickly reply to multiple posts without making several posts in a row.
How to use Multi-Quote:
Click the blue Multi-Quote button at the bottom of each post to which you would like to reply. It will turn red. Use the standard Quote button (to the left of the Multi-Quote button) on the final post to which you are replying.
Example: If you want to reply to 4 posts, click the Multi-Quote button beneath the first 3, and use the standard Quote button on the fourth. When the text box appears to type your replies, all 4 posts will be quoted, so you can easily type your replies under each post.
Please use this feature to avoid having your multiple consecutive posts merged.

Other Ultimate Metal Forums:
Here is a list of the most common forums to which threads are moved from Chat. Please make sure to browse the main forum list before creating a new thread to make sure your thread isn't moved or simply deleted.

General Metal Discussion - Self-explanatory. Metal threads go here.
Non-Metal - Again, self-explanatory. Non-metal music threads go here.
Self-Promotion - Don't promote your own stuff in Chat; that's what this forum is used for.
Musicians Discussion - For threads about your gear, techniques, etc.
The Philosopher - For mature discussions only (philosophy, politics, religion, morality, etc). Don't use this forum if you can't act like an adult.
Thread Games - For "list threads" that don't involve any real discussion.

Just keep it light and have fun in Chat. The rules are simple, and common in most forums. None of them should seem too difficult or unfair.

Cheers,
-BasilisK
