Holy F**k, a lot of people listen to Lady Gaga here..
I'm only ashamed that I have quite a lot of listens on the new Sonic Syndicate album..
Otherwise I have a quite wide range of music taste
I enjoy and listen to a lot of
Avril Lavgine, Linkin Park, HIM, 30 Seconds to Mars, but I wouldn't say I'm ashamed about listening to them...

at the mentioning of avril lavgine
i gotta funny story
my freind bought a used car and the fm part of the radio didn't work, and the car was from before CD players so the "tape deck" was useless cuz neither me or my friend owned any cassette tapes at the time, (she later went to car toys and had a CD player installed) so one day, i end up sitting in the passenger seat of her car all freaking day, and we have no cassette tapes to put in the tape deck, it's before she put in a CD player, and we end up listening to AM radio, cuz only the FM part's broken, but we live in the Bible Belt, so the only music station we get on AM is "Radio Disney" and this happens right after Avril Levine has just released her second song "complicated" and for some wierd-ass reason, radio disney's daily playlist is always pretty short, but on this paticular day it was for some unexplained reason just "Sk8ter boi" and "complicated" both by avril levine, over and over and over all freaking day, like it was avril's birthday or something, i had to be stuck in a car listening to those 2 songs over and over and over all freaking day, it drove me freaking nuts

i'm not buying into the whole Gaga is "deep" thing either
for me listening to Gaga is like watching european fetish porn, it's creepy but it's creepy-ness prevents you from looking away, you know, the lyrics of her songs are like that, if you heard barbara strisand belting out Lagy Gaga lyrics, TMZ would be accusing her of smoking crack, but with Gaga, it's just her she's been like that from day 1, with "pokerface" and the trainwreck costumes somehow make her music listenable, people that are 100% completely deaf absolutely love watching the visuals to Gaga's videos, and yeah, with the existence of Lady Gaga, we can actually now say "video killed the radio star" without the crazy costumes and the fire shooting out of the nipples of her maddonna bra, people would notice how crappy her lyrics really are, when she does a concert, she changes costumes in between every single song!!! it's insane, with bra pyrotechnicks and giant seemingly papeir mache monster that was supposed to be the "fame monster" and am i the only one creeped out and disturbed by the lyrics of "paparazzi"???

I do listen to a fair bit outside of metal, three bands stick out in my head as bands I sometimes choose not to listen to around my friends (from least embarrassing to most):
1. Incubus (Not that embarrassing as I generally listen to the albums Fungus Amongus and S.C.I.E.N.C.E.)
2. Muse
3. Death Cab for Cutie (Being a writer, the guy has some great lyrics)
But yeah, uhhh, br00tal, and stuff.

I'm really not sure if I should be ashamed, but my girlfriend got me into the Fray. Dudes have some serious talent and song writing ability. On the flipside, I got her to listen to Pig Destroyer and Engineer.

I know this thread is old, but here goes.
When I was like 12 and younger I used to listen to country. A lot. When I hear a song I remember from then I will still sing along.
That being said, there is plenty of music I am into that is not metal and I am not the least bit embarrassed to admit. Examples:
Queen
The Beatles
Bob Dylan
Neil Young
Voltaire
Alicia Keys
Frank Zappa
Red Hot Chili Peppers
STP
Pearl Jam
Everclear
Various Japanese Rock bands
The list goes on and on. But Metal is my true love. If I was forced to pick one genre to listen to forever, I would choose metal. Although I would cry about no more Bob Dylan.

Lol! Yeah, they have true staying power. I wonder what bands/soloists from today will still be loved by all ages in 20-30 years. (I have a funny feeling Lady Gaga won't be among them)

I am really opened mind to music genres I am always searching stranger/no too known things from everywhere ( like a folk Chinese death metal band or folkloric music from Morocco or Andean Symphonic power metal ) . Apart of metal and the 90% of it's variants. I like rock, jazz, blues, classic music, african, dark, country, etc but I don't like shitty disney pop, electronic, techno, pre fabricated bands etc.
Usually i am not ashamed of what i hear, but sometimes you find closed mind people and it's annoying to mention some bands or singers with them because they start to criticize and criticize , here it's my list of them:
Christina Aguilera ( only the "feeling songs" no the dancing ones, i think she has a great voice)
MCR ( they 1st songs)
Panic at the disco (I found their stuff funny)
The Rasmus ( some of their songs... i hate the last album :P,thanks them i have found some great metal Finland bands )
30 seconds to mars
Evanescence

I'm not afraid to say I listen to anything. Music is awesome...
I like anything from Kelly Clarkson to Rose Royce to Eminem to Spawn of Possession to Racer X to infinity and beyond. If people judge you for liking something different just put your ear buds back in... Fuck em. :-P
