Chicago Powerfest still on hiatus but exploring options
Hello CPF friends, we hope you are doing well!
With May being the time of year that Chicago Powerfest typically happens, Trevor Fisher from the Illinois Entertainer checked in with us regarding the status of the fest and published the following update in his latest “Caught in a Mosh” column: "Alehorn’s (of Power) triumphant return got me thinking about Chicago Powerfest, which, like AOP, was a no-go last year. So “Mosh” hit up Chris Lotesto (the C in CRJ Productions, the team that books Powerfest) and received good and bad news. The bad is that Powerfest may not happen this year, either — it’s still up in the air. The good is Lotesto, who plays guitar in Ion Vein, insists Powerfest isn’t dead. CRJ is regrouping (the closing of Pearl Room, Powerfest’s longtime venue, sent things into a tailspin), rebuilding, and re-strategizing. A gaggle of notable acts, including Tad Morose, Agent Steel, Atheist, Testament, Novembers Doom, and Iced Earth played Chicago Powerfest during its seven-year run (2000, 2004-2009)." Please know that we miss you guys and we're doing our best to come up with a solid game plan to bring the fest back better and stronger than ever! All the best, Chris, Rob, and John CRJ Productions

hopefully soon. I know we had many different theories and ideas in the past but every year the fest was a great time. I would love to see it happen again and put Chicago metal back on the map.

my people and thier people talked and things happend.
I agree....I cant wait till Powerfest gets up and running again. I would offer one suggestion for the next one. To remain on the money saving side maybe not get any Euro bands and maybe stick with US bands to avoid dealing with over seas flights and Visa issues. There are plenty of fish in the sea here. I would love to see someone like Omen or Acid Witch play. Hopefully things get under way soon.

Acid Witch is great live, you guys are in for a treat if you are going to MDF.
The underground in the states and from my experience the locals in Michigan, Ohio, and the Chicago area could draw a crowd.

Yeah, I agree 100% with what Bob said.
Hello folks!! It has been a long time. With the thrash resurgence as well as the current trad metal movement, there is plenty of great US talent, as well as older US bands who don't tour regularly. This would certainly help with costs. Definitely something to consider.

Yeah Wolfbait rocks. They did a show with Slough Feg, Superchrist and Hookers.
Wolfbait's drummer was/is in, High Spirits, Superchrist, Wastelander, and The Meatmen. Probably more.

Hi guys,
Figured since I posted about the IV/SX gig that it would probably be nice to at least make mention that CPF is still on our minds and in our hearts yet we've really got nothing new to report in terms of when the fest will return and in what capacity. We've been working on a few scenarios but so far nothing has panned out to our satisfaction. That's all for now, keep the faith, and we'll see ya soon! Best, Chris, Rob, & John CRJ Productions -
