Trouble / Kataklysm was a REBEL RADIO show for Scott Davidson's birthday party. He booked it. His funk metal band SMOKE played as well. Not my style, but they had a sound that would have gone over well in the 90s.

What would give me a headache is if I included all my non-metal shows. Actually, it would be impossible.

Don't count on it. The last couple of years they were really trying to turn it back into a nostalgic, old fashioned theater but the owner gave up and put the location for sale. Currently, they still don't have someone who's purchased it.

Not officially. Wagner, Holzner, and Olson are playing some Trouble songs with guests during Earthen Grave and Blackfinger sets.

There is no way in Hell I could list not only all the concerts I've been to, but also, what year I went to them. I'd have to dig out my box of ticket stubs and that would probably only include half the shows I've attended. I give you guys kudos for sitting down and listing them all though.


I'll try to be a sport and list the first and last shows I've been to:

First ever concert...and this is embarassing....GREAT WHITE. I was 9 yrs old and my Mom took me because she was a fan. This was my first experience with groupies throwing their bras on stage....and it was awesome. Too bad the music sucked. Ha! I guess it had it's place in time.

Last *real* concert was a few weeks ago...Rammstein at the Allstate. Killer F'N show.

Embarassing or not, that's awesome your mom took you to a show!!!!
Lord knows, I wasn't driving myself to the shows I went to in the 80s, as I didn't turn 16 until 1991. I know I extremely appreciate the fact that my older brother or friend's dads took me to some of those early ones.

Speaking of Great White, well sort of, Slaughter are playing the Taste of Lombard this year!!!! Ha!

Yeah, I have seen Holzner join Trouble before, so this will basically be that, but even lighter. I mean, no Rick and Bruce = No Trouble.

Still will be cool. Earthen Grave sound a bit flat these days, without Rachel Barton Pine. Will take some used to without her in the band anymore.

Mabel's was a great place. I actually played there once myself. Is it still there?

Mabels was closed, remodeled and opened as "Brothers" about 10-12 years ago. It's more of a campus/sports bar like Legends and Murphys are, as opposed to a rock club.

I think The Canopy Club is the only real rock venue left on campus.

DAMN!!! I guess it may have been 10 to 12 years since I have been in Champaign. That's too long.

Canopy Club used to be the Thunderbird (or something like that) Theater when I was there. It was a dingy movie theater that was always poorly attended, until they turned it into a Brew N View (ala the Vic Theater in Chicago) around 96 or so.

Yeah, now it is the home of the Central Illinois Metalfest I believe. I am sure its a good fest if you can tolerate two days of those types of bands, which unfortunately I can not!
