Come Clarity and Eclipse are especially good because they were by established bands who had sort of lost their way... and found an identity that rocks like they always could.

Overall, though, my favorite album this year isn't even metal. It's Tomasz Stanko's new album, Lontano, which is a dark, gorgeous, free jazz album. If you're even mildly interested in jazz, you should really check it out.

Daylight Dies - Dismantling Devotion is the album of 2006 for me. It just gets better with every listen
