Does "anyone" like Reroute?

I noticed a lot of Clayman/Reroute bashing, and I have to agree with Reroute, old In Flames died after whoracle, Colony and Clay were okay, with Colony maybe even being great, but I miss Glenn Ljungstrom being in Flames, nothing wrong with Bjorn, he wrote all that stuff too, but, "Watch Them Feed" sounds like Korn (on the Trigger EP). Whatever happened to "Upon an Oaken Throne" riffs?

I like it altough it took me one hell of a time to enjoy it properly. It's still there, some little glimpses of old In Flames under all that over-produced material. It's just that I still can't fully accept the production of the album. Don't like Dug-Out Studio...

Now i'm probably gonna turn this into another "evil bashur VS evil fanboy" thread but i think RTR plain sucks.
The vocs are worthless, all the guitar-work is boring and the production is horrible.
I think Clayman is a great album though, maybe too many IF newbies hail it as the best cd because of their lack of knowledge.
But i still think it kicks ass.
I'll probably never care for anything more IF releases though, as they're probably gonna release a couple more uninspired albums that sound the same and gets great acclaim as usual, followed by the members moving to a paradise island and something like that.

when a band "sells out", people say that a change was needed, and they ask a rhetorical question like "do you want them to keep remaking the same album?"

well, I'd rather have an album that sounds like something I really like over something new and boring. ...but hey, that's just me.

Go to the In Flames board

Jesus can't any forum go a while without talking about In Flames

DT's 'affiliation' with In Flames is looooong past! It doesn't make any sense to talk about In Flames so much here, same goes for bugging Sundin and them with stupid question about In Flames.

Love the cover. The CD itself can cause some physical damage every time I throw it at someone direction.

Yes I like the album, a lot. But like Salmy said, this really isn't the place for the question.

Well, to make this thread a bit more DT-related, I must say I think the cover of R2R is definitely NOT the best of Sundin - just compare it to the sophistication of DD and you'll see it yourself. I wonder if he felt the half-assness of the music and "suited" the cover for it...

Anyways, about In Flames' downwards road, I didn't like Clayman much, but it still had a couple of great tunes; I just watched an anime-musicvideo of Noir and it had Bullet Ride as music - and it kicked ass (although I have seen some much better Noir-AMVs). I just hope they will make another "reroute" on the next album towards better music once again.

In Flames is being discussed in this forum for the same reasons Megadeth is mentioned in a Metallica forum and vice versa...all these bands are intimately and inextricably intertwined. Megadeth, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Exodus, etc. are to the Bay Area what In Flames, DT, Gardenian and other bands are to Gothenburg. I make no apologies for my choice of topic and discuss it freely.

How do you know that the time of the bands' influencing one another is passed? Unless someone here knows Jesper and Niklas's apartment numbers, people do tend to get together between tours and drink and jam all the time. Just because someone's name wasn't on the liner doesn't mean they didn't influence things. Hell, I'd say one of the biggest underrated contributors to all these bands, especially Arch Enemy, has been Fredrik Nordstrom's excellent production. Like Metallica's days with Flemming Rasmussen, I think his influence will always be overlooked. Unless someone video records the rehearsals and laying tracks to hard disk, who knows which ideas are whose.

As long as all these bands share a common heritage and all continue to be from the same place, there will be a connection. Band ties that are broken would for example be Sinergy and In Flames, in which Kimberly Goss brought in totally new people to deal with her moving out of Sweden to either Norway or Finland (I forgot exactly where Alexi Laiho is from, one of those two).

So, sorry, but, I like my discussion thread, and will continue to make it "Gothenburg-based", shall we say.

By the way, I think on some of the tablatures Martin Henriksson actually made them himself, which is a very cool gesture. I wish more people would do it, and if I ever make an album, I would definitely tab my own stuff so people would know that it's right. So, thanks Martin.

Where's Arnold when you need him?

I could continue to argue, but I think it would be contradictory, given that I'm sick of these discussions.. so whatever, suit yourself
Oh but I did get a kick out of the phrase 'all these bands are intimately and inextricably intertwined' hahaha Thanks, I had a long day at work, and I needed that
