Argh. They're not funeral doom you n00b.. apart from Thergothon they're all DBM (Depressive Black Metal)...
Funeral Doom is like Amaranthine Trampler, Rot In Despair (both formed from the same guy).
Alot bands I've seen here aren't FUNERAL Doom... just Doom, or Death Doom.

Though there are alot of funeral doom bands mentioned.

I thought I liked Shape Of Despair, but Chapter 1: Delirium from COLOSSEUM blows them out of the water, I heard about them thru the band Yearning.

Interesting debate. The one thing that stands out to me is some of these folks saying that Esoteric isn't Funeral Doom Come on now, WTF? People seem to have vastly differing opinions on what makes a band FD, but if Esoteric ain't it, then something just ain't quite right.

Depressed Mode announcement

Depressed Mode announcement
Quote:
The new album that will be released in February 2009 needs
clarification:

The genre of the new album is “symphonic death/doom metal” not just
funeral or doom.
Our music can no longer be described as “funeral doom” cause it’s not. We
got one funeral doom like song in the album. It’s the title track of the
album “..for death”.
We announce this because we don’t want to mislead any true doomster to buy
our cd and be disappointed to the new album cause it was not only funeral
doom, or even doom.
The album is for any metalhead in the world.
We uploaded a “album sampler” on our myspace site -
http://www.myspace.com/depressedmodedoom - so go and check it out so you
can hear for yourself.
The album still got some doom elements, but the new material has driven us
to the death/doom metal scene, and we got symphonic elements in it.
“..for death” shows you the way we are heading to, so if you are into any
genre of metal, it’s easy for you to follow us!

- Ossy Salonen, Voice from below
The Finnish release date for "...For Death" album is 04.02.2009, with
European wide release in April 2009 via Firedoom Music/Firebox Records.

AHAB!

im not sure if these guys were mentioned, but Ahab are in my opinion the best doom band on earth (they fairly loosely fit into "funeral doom") even though they are fairly new.
they are responsible for getting me into doom metal in the first place.

go listen to "the hunt" on their myspace

Pantheist news

Pantheist updates

Upcoming gigs

At the moment we have a few gigs confirmed in October this year as well as in February next year. We are also pleased to announce that we are holding preliminary talks with Ophis for another 4 European gigs around April next year.
More news will be announced as soon as dates are confirmed; for now the confirmed gigs are:

10 Years of Musketeer of Death Fest, Sunday 25th October 2009, 13:30
• The Frontline, Gent, Belgium
• With Hicsos, Imperious Malevolence, Hysterica, Inferi, Chainsaw, Affliction,
Leptotrichia and Bliksem

Friday 30th October 2009, 20:00
• Hard Cafe, Staré Mesto, Karviná, Czech Republic
• With Electrozombies, Gallileous and Dissolving of Prodigy

Brania Fest III, Saturday 31st October 2009, 13:00
• Art Cafe, Wodzislaw Slaski, Poland
• With Electrozombies, Gallileous and others

Saturday 6th February 2010, 20:00
• The Witchwood, Ashton-Under-Lyne, Near Manchester, OL6 7SF, UK (map)
• With Grave Miasma and Winterfylleth

Saturday 27th February 2010, 20:00
• The Gaff, 382 Holloway Road, London, N7 6PN, UK (Nearest Tube: Holloway Road, Map)
• With Gallileous

O Solitude re-issue available by the band

The re-issue of our debut album, complete with majestic new artwork by Cheryl Pinnock, is now available from the band. Follow the instructions on our site to order your copy. We still have some copies left from our latest album 'Journey Through Lands Unknown', but it looks like we will sell them out at the upcoming gigs, so grab your copy while you can. We have been told by Firebox records that Amartia and JTLU are due for a reissue as well some time soon, in that chronological order. The artwork files for JTLU will be adjusted to avoid darker hues at the printing.

Working on new tracks

We are currently working on tracks for our new album. Some of them will be tested live in the gigs to come. The new material promises to be multifaceted and intense, as usual. It doesn't lack in the usual twists and turns either. There are also preliminary talks with our friends from Gallileous and Dissolving of Prodigy for the tentative release of a 4-way split that would feature one contribution from Pantheist.
More news about this as soon as something can be confirmed.

Vinyl

Plans to have our albums released on vinyl by Firebox records have been abandoned due to the unfavourable economic climate. We are still hoping to have released all of our albums on vinyl at some point in the future. The band also holds the rights for the vinyl release of O Solitude, so any label that is interested to release this album, please contact the band.
