Thanks for the reply. Your sound is a rap bass drum like when the homies drive down the street blazing Jayzee so loud their trunks rattle. The sound is actually a bit different. I appreciate your effort though. I really do. This is like the hardest sample to find for some reason. Your rap bass drum , verbed, eq'd pitch shifted and still not quite the right sound though.

not to knock anybody or be a negative nancy sometimes bass drops can be totally cool, but honestly they are so overused. I saw chimaria a while back and there performance was awesome but by the third song I had heard like 25 bass drops...........

Since the thread was dredged up, does anyone tune their subdrops to the key of the song? I started doing this about a year ago, and found that it makes a HUGE difference, especially live.

How do you implement your subdrops live, Jordon? Do you have your mixer/drummer trigger them? cheers, Mario |

We run a Mac laptop with Ableton Live 8 and Battery. We program out our set with our backing tracks/synths and subdrops, and our drummer listens to a mix of that, monitors and a click track. We play off of him, though at some point, we will all have click going to in-ears for certain parts of songs.
Our drummer triggers Battery with the Synesthesia Corp. Mandala drum pad. There are some samples that replace elements of his kit, and for a more natural sound, he uses the pad for those. ![]() |
