I'm amazed you don't tune up/reskin etc. the difference in your raw sound would improve a ton.

Nice post! It's easier when the drummer is actually good. Snare has to be loud as hell, I even mix it higher than you do. Dealing with the bleed when you have to time correct stuff is a pain in the butt.
My band's drummer has a piccolo snare also. What we do with is we tune is lower so it sounds like a regular snare but is a lot tighter than a regular snare. Love the smack that comes out of that snare. |

I love it. I used TB_Reelbus for the tape saturation, and I've got to say, I gotta get it. This method kills. It is necessary, though, to either gate or edit out the bleed from the snare, because the cymbal bleed can get out of control.
