no problem! spring is experimenting time for me too , hehe!

it seems to be a little excessive on the lowend (is it clipping on the masterbus?) maybe go a little easier. but the snare got an interesting texture/ring i like.

I'm amazed you don't tune up/reskin etc. the difference in your raw sound would improve a ton.

i usually do that! but this time i was pretty sure i would only use samples, so i wont bother my clients with that... turned out i liked the snare so much i kept it. also i dont think the tone is too bad here, thats really up to taste. i got comments ranging from : sounds good to best snare ever....

btw its a sonor delight series snare (800€), 14x4
they dont make them anymore. they are similar to the custom stuff sonor makes nowadys (about 1500€....

up for this, is there any better way in cubase than using hitpoints etc to convert drums to midi?

I love my reaper because of this btw, one click and i have my snare converted to midi

Nice post! It's easier when the drummer is actually good. Snare has to be loud as hell, I even mix it higher than you do. Dealing with the bleed when you have to time correct stuff is a pain in the butt.

My band's drummer has a piccolo snare also. What we do with is we tune is lower so it sounds like a regular snare but is a lot tighter than a regular snare. Love the smack that comes out of that snare.

I love it. I used TB_Reelbus for the tape saturation, and I've got to say, I gotta get it. This method kills. It is necessary, though, to either gate or edit out the bleed from the snare, because the cymbal bleed can get out of control.
