more for the people sticking around
Before anything else embarrassing could happen, I held my breath and stepped back in the bus. Now I was careful to breathe through my mouth. “Who’s driving?” “Me!!” Petros yelled before anyone else could get a chance. I gulped, and so did Apollo. Kind of shrugging, I took a seat on one of the bunk beds. How I was wishing right now I had a book to read that was in English or Finnish. Heck, even Swedish would’ve worked, I know it too. But, as I was going through the piles of books and magazines on the bed, I came across one with the author name in English. It read: Stephen King. I squealed loud enough for everyone to turn around and stare at me. I held up the SK book, asking, “Whose is this??” “Mine,” said Gus. That actually did surprise me. Who knew…? I opened the book. Looking at the first page, it was all in Greek. I frowned and looked at Gus. “This is a book I actually don’t have in my collection, and I don’t know enough Greek to read it.” Gus looked confused. He said, “So what would you like me to do about it?” I grinned, replying, “Would you mind reading it to me until we get to the hotel? Pretty please?” Gus actually laughed. I stared at that gorgeous smile while it lasted. I started thinking “gosh, he’s got that amazing smile, great teeth, a very cute face…” but stopped it before it went any further.

Gus walked over and actually sat beside me, taking the book and turning to the first page of the story. He spoke it in English. It sounded strange to me, as not everything translates exactly into English, but I understood well enough. Smiling, I leaned on Gus, head on his shoulder. He looked at me and also smiled, placing one arm around me and holding me close. He then continued reading. I didn’t realize it, but after a while, I was beginning to fall asleep. Yes, I was falling asleep with Gus holding me close to him, where everyone could see.
