In Flames' instrumental songs

Is there anything else to IF's purely instrumental songs like Wayfearer, Whoracle, Man Made God, etc. other than their being pure kickass? Has anybody ever heard anything about the inspiration behind these songs?

basically, I think they're just a place for riffs that didn't fit into the other songs...

I can't say I've heard anything about the inspiration behind their instrumentals, but I assume it's because of the band's love for their instruments.

That seems to the most logical answer.

Veenox, I would agree. I just think it would be pretty cool to find out from the band (if not on the forum) that there was a deeper meaning to any of the songs. Weareinflames also brought up a point, just great sections that didn't fit into any songs. I wish more bands would take that approach and not just cut a great riff because it didn't fit on an album or had no lyrics.

Dialogue With The Stars doesn't even come close to Man Made God.

Best guitar bit? I dunno...
Guitar intro on Stand Ablaze
Riff to Behind Space
Melody on Artifacts of the Black Rain
I almost kept going, but I realized the list would be about a page long...

It sounds like Iron Maiden's "The Pilgrim" played backwards, except better.

You're crazy! Dialogue with the Stars and The Jester's Dance are both better songs than MMG. But, Man Made God is still a great IF instrumental.

I think my issue with MMG, is the song starts off so great, has a perfect acoustic interlude and then gets boring until that little clean tone riff at the end. Dialogue is a little over a minute shorter and I think that helps keep my interest. Also the solos over the acoustic strumming pieces are just freakin' perfect.

The Jester's Dance, personally, is my favorite IF instrumental. I love that clean-chorusy-reverb guitar tone they are using on the intro. That is one of my all-time favorite guitar tones. I've modeled so many of my tones off of it.

I also really like Timeless off of Subterranean. That is just a pretty song!
