"Coldest" Black Metal Band?
The recent arctic blast here in the midwest lead me to ask this question.
I would say old Immortal or Satyricon. I need to put on insulated gloves just to handle the "Blizzard Beasts" disc.

Alright, what's colder:
Immortal, Satyricon, or kicking a pregnant woman in the stomach?

Blizzard Beasts actually does sound like it's recorded in a Blizzard. I'd vote for this album too.

Immortal. All they talk about is how it's freezing over there in Norway.

Between the two, Immortal are definitely colder than Satyricon.

Impaled Northern Moonforest. Just looking at the album cover will give you hypothermia.

Definitely Immortal. I think that De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is a pretty cold sounding album actually.

Also, do you seriously expect every thread on this board to be completely origional? For that to be possible, you'd see posts like "You're thoughts on the artificial harmonic Ihshan played in 'Cruse Ye All Men' at about 3:48"

I would have to say Immortal's 2nd, 3rd, and 4th albums & Mayhem's DMDS are tied for coldest black metal albums.
edit: okay, Darkthrone is a close 2nd with Under A Funeral Moon and Transylvanian Hunger

De Mysteriis Dom Santhis was an ice-cold album, I must agree. It was stormy, even. Hellhammer's drums sounded like a fucking thunderstorm.
