Silencer is strange but not all that good. Decent? Yes. The lyrics though are pretty fucking good and interesting.

I just downloaded a shitload of folk/black/viking metal from some torrent sites and I've found quite a few gems, such as Winterwitch and Crom.

Anyone have any comments on Blut Aus Nord's first album?? I was reading reviews on it & I'm thinking of looking into it. I have Memoria Vetusta I & TWWTG, but I don't want to miss out on something by them that I might wind up really liking. The other two albums are pretty good.

Ultima Thulee is leagues ahead of all their other albums.

I always found The Work Which Transforms God to be the best, all good in other ways though!

Avoid their latest. It sounds like a bunch of rejected tracks from the TWWTG sessions.

Aww, come on. Silencer is brilliant, on of the best examples of sdbm.

Yes. Primordial absolutely rules. And those lyrics are damn great, seriously.

So there're two good black metal news from me:
1. New Raventale track "From The Black Well...". Astaroth was using his own vocals this time. http://www.myspace.com/raventale
2. If you still haven't, - you know you want to listen to this czech folk black metal band Panychida. They use national bagipipes in their music, pretty cool stuff http://www.myspace.com/panychida

DBM is pretty hit or miss with me since Im pretty picky about vocals - alot of the time if the vocals are really whiny then I can't listen to it without getting really annoyed. But its relative though, I mean, I listen to Shining and people say that Kvarfoth's vocals are emo and whiny, but I don't see anything wrong with it.
