Purity.

You couldn't go wrong with Sorrow, though. However, each song does cut off a bit abruptly at the end. Also, The Most Ancient Ones would be a good choice. All their albums are great, really.

About Avsolutized, it's very good when they stick to the basics. However, the high scream vocals get old quickly and so do the transitions within the songs. I'd rather hear a musical transition between sections in the song than have random moments of silence filled with whimpers and operatic screams.

I never did find that Avsolutized album online. I'm still curious about what it sounds like.

It's nothing too out of the ordinary. It's Setherial-influenced, well-produced Black Metal with a drum computer and odd screams. It's enjoyable, but there are better things worth pursuit.

I know, but I can't really say that it's not as good as he says it is, which is something I looked forward to saying, until I actually hear it.

Just found Exiled From Light (New Zealand) on myspace. Seems to be pretty good depressive black metal. Worth a listen or two.

Sear Bliss' The Arcane Odyssey has one of the most awesomely-employed brass sections I've ever heard in a black metal album, probably because it's actual instruments rather than keyboards.

Also, am I the only one who thinks Blut Aus Nord's Ultima Thulee bears a striking resemblance to early Immortal (specifically Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism)? Might just be the production.

By the way, what does everything think of I Shalt Become's new album? I didn't even know they had an album coming out, and being a fan of Wanderings, I'm interested to hear people's opinions.

It is pretty good imo. Sends me into a trance, just like any other good black metal.
