I love Kroda. on the new album their songs are long as fuck.
one thing I dont understand about Kroda since they are Ukrainian. they have songs about Wotan, Valhalla, Valkries... why? they are slavs

The Slavs (Black Metal-wise) are an odd bunch. The majority of National Socialist Black Metal comes from Poland for example, and I find it highly ironic, let alone paradoxical that of all places, young Poles should feel so right-wing.
Sometimes I wonder whether they're simply bored in terms of their National Socialist tendencies.

How do you folks feel about Graveland's Fire Chariot of Destruction? Compared to Dawn of Iron Blades, I thought it was a step down actually. I found Fire Chariot of Destruction overly percussive.

I dont listen to Graveland enough.
but Darken is another one who uses the Norse/Germanic gods instead of the Slavic gods. But I read in an interview that he thinks the gods are all the same just with different names.

I enjoy it, but it's definitely not as strong as Dawn of Iron Blades (Or The Fire of Awakening). I can see how some would see it as overly percussive, but I thought it was a nice change. My only complaint is it's quite heavy on the choir vocals, but that is easily overlooked. I think DoIB is his best since the magnificent Immortal Pride. |
