I've been loving this album today:
Severe Torture - Sworn Vengeance (2007)
I do love my brutal death metal!

Is it remotely similar to Borknagar's debut, which essentially succeeded it?

I wouldn't say that it succeeded it. Brun was working with an entirely different outlook in Borknagar than he was in Molested. For starters, the latter was Death Metal, while the former was Black Metal. They don't have many similarities at all, from what I can recall.

Yeah, there's no similarities whatsoever. It's hard to believe they were both created by the same man.

Well I think I may get it eventually, as homage to one of the most creative guitarists in black metal.

You just heard it yesterday.
Besides, it would more likely be Hail or Drudkh or something.

TWWTG isn't even Black Metal.

Pretentious art-fag black metal of doom!
Besides, they never really innovated anything or contributed anything to the grand scheme of black metal, yet still fans hail them as though they did. They're basically the Opeths of black metal. The first album is still okay, though.

Ok I can accept the art-fag criticism for all the stuff after Vintersorg joined, but I still think that a lot of you don't appreciate the emotive power of the songs that Brun constructs, combined with the dual-natured vocals of Garm and Vortex. Some of his riffs just put me in an enlightened trance.

Forgotten Legends is the best post-2000 BM album. Kenose comes pretty close. It probably represents where BM is heading while FL suggests more of what BM has been.
