I don't think they've overwanked on any album except Train of Thought, and maybe Systematic Chaos and Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, I can't say for sure 'cause I haven't listened to those two albums all that much.

I must like wanking then because ToT is my favorite of theirs.

I listened to the first four songs off Train of Thought during a car trip recently, and it sounded pretty inferior to the other DT albums I've heard. "As I Am" and "Endless Sacrifice" sounded okay (but not great). "Honor Thy Father" was fucking annoying as hell, though. What's with all these cheesy nu-metal/metalcore parts, and the edgy spoken lyrics? They sound ridiculous.

I guess I could see you liking it more since you're a thrash-head, but really... I don't see how that album holds a candle to a lot of the material on Images and Words or SFAM.

If we're talking strictly prog material, you're right.

I don't recall anyone here hating SFAM. Not sure I'd call it their best work, though. It does have some of their best songs, but there's also a lot of shitty ballads and filler.

SFAM is a great album as a whole, but personally I prefer listening to songs than to albums, and that album didn't have many good individuals songs (although a few are just amazing), and much of it does feel like filler material.

I think I pretty much agree with this. Although I'll take "Through Her Eyes" over "Beyond This Life" or "Fatal Tragedy." And "Home" could have had a few minutes trimmed.
