I can honestly say I've never listened to a full Blind Guardian album. Shame on me.

I haven't heard them all but as far as I can tell they have nothing better than Follow the Blind.

You and me both. Can't say I'm in a hurry either though.

so to keep the thread rolling did some of you not vote for nightfall because of all the interludes and how they interupt the flow of the album or because you think it doesn't have the best songs in general?

Both. Don't get me wrong, I like a good amount of the songs on it, but it falls in at about 4th for me.

Battalions of Fear is essential speed metal. The other early ones if you like that style

Battalions of Fear, Tales from the Twilight World, and Somewhere Far Beyond...not really sure on the order. Exceptional band though, through Nightfall, and only fags don't think so. They're one of few 'gateway' bands that are legitimately at the peak of their particular niche.

good observation. "one of the few gateway bands at the peak of their niche."
someone should expound on that.

I voted Imaginations.

Blind Guardian haven't made a great album in a very long time.

It's tough, but my top 5 would have to be
1. Nightfall in Middle Earth
2. Somewhere Far Beyond
3. Tales from the Twilight World
4. Imaginations from the Other Side
5. A Twist in the Myth (I think it's better than most people say)

For me, Nightfall. Then again, I like Rhapsody's first 5 albums more than any BG album. *shrugs*

+1. Probably the best live album I own.

I might be convinced to go for Tales from the Twilight World now, although I have to say that At the Edge of Time was a really good first-listen and could easily become a favorite if it holds up. On a whole the band still never really clicked with me though.

Definitely go with Somewhere Far Beyond these days. Nightfall is good and impressive, but I think it's too long for it's own good. Really can't go wrong with the first 6 BG albums though.
