As I considered my own question further I came to realize that there are more than one Stanley Cups and that the Chicago Blackhawks have won it in the past.

I thought there was only one? I know there's that thing where everyone on the winning team gets a day with the cup, and then they carve every player who has ever won it's name into it. That just seems cheapened if there's more than one.

Taller than it is wide. Thus unsuitable for a desktop background.

I don't know about that. The picture of my girlfriend in my background is taller than it is wide...I wouldn't want it any other way.

I'm pretty sure there's only two cups. There's the original that stays in the hockey hall of fame and then there's the one that gets awarded to the winning team. My dad's cousin won the Stanley Cup for a day in 2000 when the Devils won it

Oh, I thought it was like the Lombardi trophy, where the winner got to keep it and they made a new one every year. MasterOLightning should get back here and clear things up.

There are actually three Cups: the original bowl, the authenticated Cup, and the replica at the Hall of Fame. The original bowl purchased by Lord Stanley is currently displayed at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Ontario.
The authenticated version, the Presentation Cup, was created in 1963 by Montreal silversmith Carl Petersen, and is the one currently awarded to the champions of the playoffs and used for promotions.
This version was made in secret, and its production was only revealed in 1970 after it had been "kidnapped" and held for ransom. It was returned anonymously. The replica trophy, called the Replica Cup, was created in 1993 by Montreal silversmith Louise St. Jacques to be used as a stand-in whenever the Presentation Cup is not available at the Hockey Hall of Fame.
