I had a grandpa who was an army engineer. Far as I know, he didn't do anything particularly cool in the war (though he didn't like talking about it either), but he did build his own house afterward.

I never met one of my grandfathers(the one who was in the Korean war), and I hardly knew the other one, besides the fact he would steal my popsicals when I was younger.

One of my grandfathers is still alive, he was in the army for a while before I was born (not WWII because he was only 3 when it started).
My other grandfather died two years ago, although I wasn't close to him at all. He hated my mother for being a catholic.
