It seems clockwise is he most common. Us counter-clockwise people are more rare and kvlt. Therefore we win.

Actually, I was thinking about this too. The animation certainly couldn't be moving in both directions at once... I just concluded that the picture moves clockwise naturally, and that the counterclockwise rotation only happens when the you do not look directly at the picture (only way I got it to happen).

Since it's not a 3D object it's not spinning in either direction, it's just how it is percieved
