I think your idea of doing something about Dave is a good one, but I don't see the "ignore Dave thread" idea happening for a few reasons: I think a lot of people here like having the village idiot around so they can feel a bit better about themselves; and there's no way everyone would do it. Except it'd be too hard to keep up with the insane amount of "wow guys I just went to the store with my Dad and he bought me a new set of weights and some protein shakes gee life is great at the moment except for how I'm a loser douchebag virgin oh god I wish I could pick up women oh well gee I've got the biggest post workout high atm and that's better than any stupid gold-digging whore" posts. But yeah just deleting some of them would be a start.

If we are still on the thing about vikings.. I was watching a documentary (quite awhile ago) and it said (form what I remember) that the average viking back then was 5"8~, which was pretty huge for their time. And suprisingly, a horned helmet (considered pretty much the standard viking symbol) has never been dug up or discovered. Meaning the horned helmet is pure speculation.

I dunno, man. It could at least gain the support of most of the frequent posters here, which would make a pretty big difference. It's also a promising method of psychological warfare -- maybe once he sees how many people are ignoring him, he'll start making a serious effort to show more tact and maturity on the boards.

I was afraid I'd be getting the whole "that would be divisive, cause hard feelings among members, etc." argument. Maybe I was overestimating how dramatic the proposal would sound.

The thing about this is that it requires the moderators to act in a very un-moderatorly way. With the ignore list 'embargo', the moderators don't have to associate themselves with it at all. The only thing I could foresee happening is maybe me getting banned for making a 'personal attack' -- but christ, how many of those has Dave already gotten anyway?
