Every college I applied to required it, and most required SAT2s

By taking the SATs (and scoring above a threshold) I was able to skip placement testing. I'm only attending community college right now though.

That sucks. I'm attending Purdue University, which isn't some slack school and they didn't require me to take one. My girlfriend took it, but IU didn't ask for it, neither did her business school.

I have a friend who went to Ball State, they didn't "require" it. They asked if you took it and you could voluntarily submit it. Same goes for Notre Dame.

Regardless though, I think they are pretty pointless.

Maybe it's just Indiana schools, I don't know. I had to take a placement test at both Purdue and Ivy Tech comm. college. My girlfriend did too at IU.

Pretty much everyone around here going to college takes them. Either way they are no real hardship to take, although the College Board charges a lot to take a test.

I'm actually curious as to why it's different here. I don't remember any of my friends talking about when they were going to take it. Or mentioning anything about schools requiring them for admittance. I do know for a fact two of my friends did take them, and another seven of my other friends who are now finishing their degrees from universities said they didn't. Only reason I know is because I was talking about it when we played a poker tournament and I told them all I was going to start school finally and mentioned the SAT.

From what I've heard (without recalling the source) many major universities don't require you take the SATs for admittance anymore because of their ineptitude at accurately accessing a persons general intelligence.

Rich: Did you take the ACT? Or did you have to take a test for each college?

Possibly.

I didn't take any tests. I already knew my junior year of high school I was going to join the Marines, so I didn't bother with them. The only thing the military requires you to take is the ASVAB, which is a test for dummies.

Yes, I had to take placement tests for both comm. college and university. I didn't mind it though, because at least it's a realistic foundation of what you know as compared to a test I would have taken 5-6 years ago.

Since you all seem to be posting your class schedules for the upcoming semester I may as well join in the fray:

Medieval Studies 300 - The Vikings
Communication Studies 202 - Nonverbal Communication
Communication Studies 206 - Graphic Design & Print Media
Film Studies 240 - Film History 1895 - 1939
Film Studies 341 - Classical Film Theory

Should be fun. I am doing a combined Honours of film and comm and since some of the required courses overlap a bit from each I am able to have more electives than usual which is why I am taking an extra 200 level course despite being in third year.

I am also greatly anticipating the Vikings course

Edit: No SATs in Canada suckas!
