I doubt they would want associate with a trendy fest. You would find that if they did, st paul would be filled with lesbian, NAACP, and other bolsheviks, protesting their presence........

In general, It's a shame what the folk scene is turning into. It's definately a FAD in europe. Whatever band who can pose to be the most finnish or folk appearing can cash in, and now it's taking a similar direction here. The folk metal thing is getting kind of faddy. It's refreshing, though, to see a hurdy-gurdy in a professionally made music video à la Eluveitie, and I think it's helping some young people connect more to their people and their blood, and see that there's something to be proud of, to see that their people have an actual culture.

The downside is all the people of non-Scandinavian descent who go around with mjollnirs and glorifying someone else's heritage instead of their own. And all the people who speak of war and raiding and conquest who couldn't stand up to a guy with a .45 in a back alley.

Exactly why I don't hang a Norwegian flag in my room and tattoo Mjolnirs all over my body like I see often these days ... it makes sense for some, but for me, a man of Italian and Irish descent? I'd be better off tattooing a potato and a bowl of spaghetti on myself.

I've been lobbying for Cruachan to make their first Stateside appearance.

If there is such a thing as "pure" folk music, Cruachan would certainly qualify. Or, perhaps, pure Celtic-metal. They're that, for sure.

Keith Fay is a fascinating guy. Full of road stories, drinking stories, and passion for playing folk metal as only Cruachan can.

They've never played the States. As one of the founders of folk-metal music, they're long overdue.
