Anything new dominating your ears these days or not??

Some new stuff I'm digging:

The Haunted - The Dead Eye

Following in the footsteps of rEVOLVEr, there a lot of cool
dynamics on this album which I'm digging.

Spi Ritual - Pulse

Pretty cool stuff mixing, heavy male/clean female vox along
with various ethnic sounding influences and heavy guitars...

I'm also looking forward to hearing the new Martyr and Novembers Doom,
the clips I heard kick ass!

Just picked this up today, I'm impressed.

New Killswitch kicks ass indeed, I like it a lot! They moved
60,000 in the first week to land at #32 on the Billboard
chart....good for them!

Killswitch owns such a great band.

I've been hooked on this jazz trio called The Ron Eschete Trio. Seven string guitar, six string bass, and great jazz drumming. Bass does alot of the melody lines instead of just keeping the groove. Good shit if you are into that sort of stuff. I am also real into a band called Thurisaz which is a band we toured with in Europe. If you like Evergrey and melodic black metal you will really dig these guys also.

I don't see many people talking about this album.
It is weird.
When "MADE ME DO IT" came out, the entire online community was poopin' bricks over this band, myself included.

I remember thinking that this band could bring back thrash.

Then their next couple albums were a little more groove than thrash.

Just curious if they brought back any of the thrash elements or if it is in more of the style of their recent outputs.

I just can't get into these guys.
Every time I hear ANGRA, I say to myself, "Damn, there ARE bands wimpier than DREAM THEATER!!"

I like both Nevermore and Dream Theater.
The point was that Angra are wimpier than DT. That's all.

I am not a NM hater, I just find them to be extremely over rated.

And furthermore, do I like metal? I EAT METAL FOR BREAKFAST!!!!!

It's good but more in line with the newer stuff....a lot of dynamic/moody
type stuff mixed with the thrash assault. It's definitely not on par with
the early stuff but an excellent album, nonetheless. That being said, if
you didn't like Revolver, you probably wouldn't like this...but it's worth
a shot.

I did like the 2 song sampler CM put out for Revolver. I think it had "99" and "All Against All". I just never picked up the album.

Finally picked these up a few weeks ago.....both cool
albums, I dig SOAD, they're friggin' nuts! haha The
first time I saw them live was Ozzfest in 01, I believe,
but seeing them at Ozzfest last year was awesome, they
totally killed!

Sikth - Death of a Dead Day

I have to thank my bro, Rob (12th Gate/CPF), for
highly recommending these guys, this album kills!!

At times, it's spastic like Dillinger Escape plan, but more
metallic, and then it jumps into these gorgeous melodic
pieces, what a treat indeed!

I think I might have mentioned these guys to you. Killer band.

I'm currently really enjoying Alex Machacek's latest - SIC. Amazing guitar playing that will make you wonder what the hell's going on...

Lamb Of God, Sacrament.

62,000 albums sold in the first week of release.

By the way, which were your favorite albums of 2006 people? I saw this list and it seems the musicians loved some albums I truly hated:

Imhotep

Since I received 'Novembrine Waltz' by Novembre several weeks ago, I've played it over and over.
Have heard other Novembre CDs in the past, they were OK, this CD is excellent
Highly recommended -

Have the Laethora CD, great stuff, my fav. disc of 2007 so far
I mean this as the highest complement, sort of reminds me of Lamb of God
The intro to this CD has a quote from Werner Herzog which I
used on this very forum over a year ago, don't know what that means
but is kind of neat that we are into the same movies

here's a review from Revolver

"the sheer thunderousness of DT" ... like that -
