we were actually already supposed to come down under to play on "Destruction of Oz" Festival for early next year, but this year's fest went bankrupt and so the next one's been cancelled as well. too bad.

Who wouldn't? But I don't think they have enough fans out here to pull a crowd for a solo tour. Kind of like Cynic this year at Screamfest.

Maybe you live in State that would like them. I remember Paradise Lost saying something about how when that they came to the US they recieved poor reception. If people cant enjoy Katatonia for who they are they dont need to waste there time and money by touring in said country. Yes it would be nice to see Katatonia. Not saying its the same where you live .

I'm pretty sure that it would be close to selling out in at least Sydney and Melbourne, depends what size venue they choose. The fans of the older stuff would come out anyway because in Australia we try to support international acts even if they're not a favourite band or something. International bands used to play in my city in the 90s and then everyone got old and stayed home
This month in my city we have, Birushanah (Japan) & Whitehorse, Wolves in the Throne Room (US) & Monarch (France).

I know I'm biased, but I think there would be a hell of a lot of people coming out of the woodwork to see Katatonia here in Australia. Maybe they could do a shared tour thing, or do some shows like Sonata Arctica/Ensiferum, where two decent bands carry the burden and get heaps of people through the door.
Looking at crowd sizes for European bands in the last few months, I think there's a real market for Katatonia. Paradise Lost are coming in a month or two, so why not? Katatonia are at least as popular if not more so. Even if they lost money it'd be an experience to remember. |

One of my gig friends from Brisbane is friends with the Soundwave guy who books all the bands. He said if I could prove that say, 1000 Katatonia fans in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne each who would go to see the band if they came out here, then the Soundwave guys would most probably get them out here.
I reckon there is only about... 400 Katatonia fans in the whole of Australia.

Hey. There's a better chance of them going to Australia than to Hawaii, if that makes you feel any better. Oh. And we get no metal shows here. None. Ever. It's awesome.
