I found Frantic Bleep last week and they are awesome! A great mixture of different musical stuff with something of their own. Something like avantgarde with a faint hint of thrash and death metal. They are from Norway of course, where else could a band as good as this come from (Except Sweden)?

Yeah well apparently Madder Mortem's singer Agnete M. Kirkevaag has been a session vocalist for Frantic Bleep and MM:s ex-bass player also played in FP
You're right, they do sound much like Madder Mortem. I can feel some Ihsahn and Arcturus vibes in their music too. |

Arena and Änglagård. Not new bands, but amazing!
I just bought the Arena DVD "Smoke & Mirrors" and I'm deeply impressed. The most enthralling two hours I spend in my life ![]() For those who don't know Arena is an Art-rock/progrock/AOR-band from England. Änglagård are progrock, too, but have mostly instrumental songs. Really musical stuff

Then we should let the people listen to them
http://www.progarchives.com/Progress...D.asp?cd_id=69 there's a stream edit: I have both studio albums and the live album. You really should get "Epilog" too

I have a few Anekdoten albums but I don't think they are that good. But Landberk is really great, more pop but with great melodies.

Well, I can understand why people name Landberk and Anekdoten together with Änglagård, since they both name it as a big influence

Windmills By The Ocean. If you like Isis you will probably like them ( memembers from Isis were in this ) as far as I know they only have a self titled release, but it is amazing.

^^ Yeah, Neurosis is really cool, good thing they are still releasing good albums
THe best band I've heared in a long time is Maudlin of the Well (that later changed into Kayo Dot), a nice band with doom/death meta, Jazz, prog-rock, etc influences

kayo dot is realy good, although i think they tend to get overdone.. a song or two at a time is just fantastic, but after that i tend to get a bit bored

^^ You got that right Kev.
So, there are a few bands/albums I've discovered recently: Hurt - Vol.1 : Just wow, I can't believe this is their debut album cause the sound of the band is so polished, it has some obvious Tool/APC influences, I can hear some dredg too and some grunge influences Across Tundras - Dark Songs of the Prairie : This band mixes a sludge Cult of Luna/Isis/Pelican sound with some Psychodelic rock elements, it's really cool but I still have to give it a few more spins Bubu - Anabelas : This is an Argentinian 1970's band and as you can guess it's prog rock in the veins of King Crimson (Red era) and Magma

I found some new and nice bands too..
Few to name SikTh, Boris and Sunn O))). And the I found Metsatöll (Estonian folkmetal). It was kinda surprise, because I'm not so keen on folkmetal. Also Drudkh was something new to me. And few ambient-discoverys to name; Troum (German dark ambient) and The 4th Floor from Finland.
